The Full Story

Horizon started from a simple observation: the industry around advanced air mobility and unmanned traffic management is moving faster than anyone can track by reading headlines. New companies, new FAA guidance, and new technical approaches show up constantly, scattered across dozens of sources, with no single place to see the whole picture at once.

MZI built a tool to address that: a web application that organizes public research on this landscape into one place, built entirely from publicly available sources. It became a real software development project for one of MZI's summer interns, covering database design, a live web interface, and the underlying research itself.

What exists today is the shell: a working application that brings the landscape together into a single, organized view, close to launch. This is a real, working system, not a concept.

The next phase is what makes it genuinely forward-looking: active AI agents that keep the landscape current automatically as the industry moves, rather than relying on manual updates. That capability is still in development and isn't part of the tool yet. It's the clearest example on this site of MZI's Foresight and Technology Strategy discipline in practice, staying ahead of a landscape that changes faster than any static report could.
